34. No Room for EGO

It’s still apart of my life, but I don’t give it any room to grow. I give it the space it needs, but I don’t nurture it, or feed it. Not anymore.

“Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.” – Step Two

Overcoming the challenges that come with the first step, prepares us for success with step two. Just when I thought I lost all hope. Just when I sunk so low in life, I gave up. Step Two brings us together with others who are also working on their program. By showing up in a meeting, it’s hope that brings us together. Hope for a better life. Hope for closure & healing. Hope for an Outstanding Life.

Individually we were suffering.

But together, seeing others put aside their ego’s, seeing others show up time and time again. Tells me I can check my ego at the door, for just a few minutes to share. This gives me room to listen without judgement, to share without hesitation, to grow beyond my weaknesses.

After putting my ego down so many times, it gets heavier to pick up. At a certain point I didn’t have room in my life to accommodate ego in my life. It’s still apart of my life, but I don’t give it any room to grow. I give it the space it needs, but I don’t nurture it, or feed it. Not anymore.

Gratitude of the day: Today I am thankful for my Higher Power, helping me have hope when times are challenging. To live a life without ego.

Action of the day: Today I will list the last time I let my ego make a decision for me, and share that with a recovery friend.
