22. Self Care is not Self Will.
When I’m having a challenging day, I’ll take this as an opportunity to do something nice for someone. Service (for me) is a way to stay sober.
Giving back and helping others is important for my recovery. In order for me to keep helping others and being of service, I first have to mitigate against HALT (Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired).
Self Care is eating healthy, checking my ego, engaging in a supportive community, and getting the rest I need.
Self Will is when I make decisions not based on the greater good. If my ego makes decisions for me, I often end up Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired.
When I’m having a challenging day, I’ll take this as an opportunity to do something nice for someone. Service (for me) is a way to stay sober. Through the act of service, I can help one person, but it also has a chance to inspire others to keep the help train going.
Gratitude of the day: I’m thankful for my Higher Power showing me where I can help. Giving me the courage to make a difference. Giving me the courage to really serve others in need.
Action of the day: Today I will look for a way I can help myself, help others.
