20. Be like water

“If I put water in a cup, it becomes the cup. If I put water into a river, it becomes the river. Water can be still & calm, or water can crash like waves. Be formless, Be shapeless, Be like water my friend.”

Change will happen no matter how I feel about it. In recovery, change is constant, it’s ever evolving, and it’s necessary. Change is still scary especially when I don’t know how to manage ‘a new flow’.

Bruce Lee said, “If I put water in a cup, it becomes the cup. If I put water into a river, it becomes the river. Water can be still & calm, or water can crash like waves. Be formless, Be shapeless, Be like water my friend.”

When life settles down, and something new happens, it can be hard to stay calm. Rather than be upset, or angry, or frustrated with this change, I should change with it. I can’t get better at something, if I’m not open & willing to try. I won’t focus on avoiding change, instead I’ll focus on opportunity is presents me to grow.

Gratitude of the day: I believe there is a plan for me, that my Higher Power has in store. And that I will now act on that plan, through this change set before me. I’m thankful for the opportunity to change.

Action of the day: Today I’ll celebrate the changes I’ve made in my recovery life, by preparing for the trauma of success.
